TV PRODUCTION WORKS

A Broader View and The World at Temple

My work as a Producer, Host, and Script Writer, and Production Assistant.

TUTV's public affairs talk series that explores the issues and events that shape our lives. From politics to social justice to student Adderall abuse and much more, we'll give you a broader view of the big stories that people are talking about…or should be talking about. A Broader View is produced and hosted by Professor Karen M. Turner's journalism class.

The World at Temple is the first and only TUTV talk show that covers international student events at Temple University.

Tanjeen Twinkle is joined by Alex Franzino from March For Our Lives Philadelphia and Colwin Wiliams from Philly CeaseFire to take a closer look at the culture of gun violence within our society. Later, Kenny Cooper speaks with former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, Ethan Block from March For Our Lives Philadelphia, and Shira Goodman, Executive Director of CeaseFire PA, for a discussion about policy efforts to combat gun violence and what students can do to get involved and create changes.

This edition of A Broader View concerns itself with conversations regarding local and national politics alike. Co-host Kenny Cooper takes on national politics with Temple University’s College Democrats Benjamin Aitoumeziane and Law Professor Craig Green. Co-host Tanjeen Twinkle tackles local issues with Jon Geeting, Director of Engagement at Philadelphia 3.0, and Media Mobilizing Project Communications Coordinator Mariam Dembele.

A Broader View asks the question, are college students being exploited? Co-host Kenny Cooper examines compensation for student-athletes with NBC Sports’ Danny Pommells and KYW News Radio’s Jay Scott Smith. Co-host Tanjeen Twinkle discusses whether college students are getting adequate pay for internships and graduate assistantships with TUGSA President Evan Kassof and Temple Career Center’s Kelly Hart.

Host Luv’en-Ya Rowland returns to the set of The World at Temple for the season finale. First she interviews Temple student and filmmaker Yinan Wang, who discusses his new documentary piece about the owner of a struggling Chinese restaurant and the tensions that develop with his sons, who he expects to take over the family business. The filmmaker used to work there, and knew the family before deciding to create a piece based on their interfamilial dynamic. Later, watch a video created by a World at Temple reporter who was studying abroad at the University of East Anglia in the UK this semester.
