At Temple University, there are many food carts and restaurants, where any students and pedestrians can eat at. There are many choices and options on what to eat. People, especially students can eat food from savory, sweets, spicy, cultural, etc.
There are some expensive places and cheap places to eat on campus. In my opinion, any over $6 is expensive, when it comes to food, but sometimes it’s worth it.
However, some days you don’t want to be spending a lot of money because let’s be honest, us college students are broke. Luckily, there are food trucks at Temple University that are cheap and delicious. These trucks are worth it, so here are four of them:
1. Foot Long Food Truck

Located: 12th St And Norris St, Philadelphia, PA 19122
The Foot Long food truck is located near the Science Education and Research Center. Not only, this is the cheapest food truck on campus, but the food is absolutely delicious. Students can get cost efficient food long and six-inch sandwiches. A six-inch sandwich by itself is $3.75, a footlong sandwich is $6, six-inch with soda is $4.50, a six-inch with fries and soda is $6, a footlong with fries and soda is $8, and just fries by itself is $2.50. Also, the food truck accepts credit cards. The food truck offers a variety of sandwiches from grilled zesty chicken, pizza chicken cheesesteak, and a lot more. However, the truck also offers chicken finger platter for $6, two hot dogs and soda for $3.50, wraps for $4.50, wraps with fries and soda is $5.50, and lastly, salads are $5.50 as well. It’s really cheap and worth my money. Usually, I get the six-inch sandwich that cost $3.75, which I want a quick meal and sometimes I would get the six-inch with fries and soda, which is $6. That’s a great offer and it’s very filling.
2. Halal food trucks outside of student center

Located: 1755 N 13th St, Philadelphia, PA 19122
Outside of Howard Gittis Student Center, there are four halal Middle-Eastern and Greek inspired food trucks. They are Sunny Halal Food, Ebi’s Lunch Truck, Famous NY Gyro, and Halal Gyro Express. All of the truck's service are great and the owners are friendly. They all serve lamb, chicken, mixed lamb, and chicken, or falafel over rice and salad or pita. They all are fast, fresh, and juicy. They come with spicy red sauce, tangy white sauce, or bbq sauce. Any sauce of your choice. Also, the meal comes with a free drink of your choice. Overall, the whole meal is $6 with a free drink. The food is great, along with the service and it’s affordable. Also, most of the trucks don’t accept cards.
3. The Mexican Grill Stand

Located: 1755 N 13th St, Philadelphia, PA 19122
The Mexican Grill Stand is also located in front of the Howard Gittis Student Center. Sometimes there’s a long line and crowded there because the food truck is popular and has tasty foods. The food stand serves tacos, burritos, quesadillas with various toppings and their own sauces, and tomato soup. The tomato soup is $3. One taco is $2, three tacos are $6 (with any free drink), and additional toppings are $0.50. I recommend the $6 deal because it’s very filling and delicious. Lastly, Burritos and Quesadillas are $6 with any free drink. Also, they don’t accept cards, it’s cash only. The tacos are served in soft corn tortillas. They have pork and pineapple tacos topped with cilantro, onions, and limes. They serve chicken or ground beef with lettuce, black beans, sour cream, cheddar cheese, and pico de gallo. Pico de Gallo is made from chopped tomato, onion, coriander leaves, fresh serranos (jalapeños or habaneros are used as alternatives), salt, and key lime juice. Also, they have chorizo with black beans and limes and lightly fried fish tacos with lettuce, chipotle mayo, pico de gallo, and lime. All the burritos are served with cheddar cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo, lettuce, rice, black beans, chipotle mayo, and sour cream. It can be a veggie burrito with zucchini, corn, and tomatoes. They also have meat, which are ground beef, chicken, pork and pineapple, or chorizo. Lastly, the Quesadillas are served on a flour tortilla with cheddar cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole on the side. Also, the toppings are veggies (zucchini, corn and tomatoes), ground beef, chicken, pork and pineapple, or chorizo.
4. The Creperie

Located: 1291 W Norris St, Philadelphia, PA 19122
The Creperie food truck at Temple University is located near Tyler School of Art. The truck serves both savory and sweet crepes. There are various sweet and savory crepes on the menu. All savory crepes are served with mozzarella cheese, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, mushrooms, and spinach. These toppings can be altered upon request by the customers. There are a lot of meat, seafood, and vegetarian options for savory crepes. Along, with many different types of sauces from Ranch, to Honey Dijon, to Chipotle Ranch, and etc. All savory crepes are $6. The sweet crepes toppings and sauces are whipped cream, cinnamon, chocolate syrup, Nutella walnuts, Boston Creme, cheesecake spread, or oreo cookie crumbs. There are many sweet crepes option from Nutella with bananas or strawberries (or both), Honey with apples or bananas (sometimes with walnuts on either of them), S’mores, Berries Cheesecake, etc. All sweet crepes are $5.50. The crepes are very tasty, filling, and have a bunch of delightful flavors in it. The food truck sometimes will be crowded and have long lines because it’s popular and the food smells good coming from the truck because they cook the crepes fresh, right on the spot. Also, the truck takes credit cards as well and it comes with a free drink. Best, but not least, The Creperie gives their customers punch cards, so after buying 9 crepes; the customers can get the 10th crepe for free. Therefore, is one of my favorite food trucks.
Altogether, these food trucks are great. They all have tasty, delicious, and amazing foods with a bunch of options and decent prices. Some of the lines may be long. However, it’s absolutely worth your time and money.
