Throughout the world, there is more than one type of marriages. There is love, arrange, same-sex marriage, etc. Marriage itself is a beautiful commitment between two people that love each other.

Marriage happens in different ways and there are many different stories, which bring couples together to where they are now.

Love marriage is now progressing all over the world because individuals want to get married to the person of their choice and who they have deep feelings for. However, a long time ago Arrange marriages were more common and from this modern day, people still do them. There is a reality show called, “Marriage at First Sight” which is similar to an Arrange marriage because the people on the show are getting married to complete strangers.

Arrange marriage back then is about parents telling their kids, who they can or cannot marry. Parents would pick their children’s spouses by looking at the potential matches for them. They will look at the matches’ educational status, what they do for their career, what their family is like, and there are a lot more the parents take considerations to when picking out their child’s spouse.

According to Everything Engagement, forty to fifty percent of couples in the United States and Canada are finding themselves part of divorce rates. The statistics of arrange marriage shows an average divorce rate of 4 percent, which is lower than the divorce rate for love marriages.

Also, other statistics from Brandon(Gaille) states eighty-six percent of Indian population demographic in the United States are still doing arrange marriages.

Arrange marriages are more common in other places such as Asia, Middle East, or some parts of Africa. However, they are becoming more recognized in the USA because of the different cultures living in the countries.

One thing that should be clear is that there is a difference between an arranged marriage and forced marriage. There is a difference, if looking at these two types of marriages.

Arrange marriage is a marriage set by the family members, if both partners from both families constant to it, then it’s an arranged marriage. It becomes a forced marriage, if either partner is unable or unwilling to give constant to wanting to marry the partner chosen for them.

Looking at both definition and the wording, they are two different things. People usually confuse those two together, by trying to understand these marriages but they are not the same.

Arranged marriage is done around the world. My parents had an arranged marriage and are still happily married to this day.

Personally, this concept of marriage isn’t right for me but I’m not against it at all.

If someone wants to do an arranged marriage or want their families to pick their spouse. The only thing that other person could do is support them and be there for it because the process is sometimes really scary and nerve racking.

Just being a support system for the person can really help and not all arranged marriages are bad either.

If someone tells you they had an arranged marriage, it’s better to learn about it and understand why they did it without jumping to any conclusion because most likely the marriage was done by their choice, not another way around.
